Dear Sisters,

Yes, we have come to that special holiday time of year again, with harvest celebrations, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. As is our custom each year at this time, until December 31, 2000, a discount of $3 applies to every gift subscription you order. Please note that this offer is restricted to new subscriptions only, but any number of new gift subscriptions may be ordered at this special price; simply attach your list.

This time of year is a special one for families, to be enjoyed together with hot chocolate, warm fires, beautiful music, yummy treats, reading aloud, singing sharing memories....

In the Old Testament we find that the Isrealites had many festivals. Their celebrations included blowing trumpets, family feasts, get togethers, campouts, gifts to the poor and needy, and gifts to the Lord. On these special celebration days even the servants' work ceased, just like on the sabbath---except for the necessary preparation of food. (e.g. Exodus 12:16).

Holiday dates and traditions vary from land to land, and change with time. But whenever and however holidays may be celebrated by the culture we live in, they offer us a special opportunity to celebrate the goodness of our God with thankfulness as families. Even "the necessary preparation of food" becomes a special time as we mothers offer our service in this capacity in our homes up unto the Lord in a spirit of thankfulness, joy, and celebration.

May the Lord's rich blessing be upon you and our family in all your celebrations before Him this holiday season.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
(Psalm 100: 1&2, NASB)

Blessings,

Helen E. Aardsma
