Dear Sisters,
Little ones splashing in the wading pool (wet towels everywhere!), fresh-from-the-garden strawberries for breakfast every morning, fans whirring in the kitchen, fresh flower boquets on the table from my perennial bed, crunchy salads, laundry freshening on the line, vegetable customers calling for produce...all these things tell me summer has arrived at last. Oh, how I love summer!
Family news (for which we'd so appreciate your prayers whenever you think of us): The entire family (all 16 of us!) will be travelling to Pennsylvania for Grandpa Aardsma's memorial service on July 19. Since we haven't seen most of Gerald's family for many years, we are planning a reunion as well. I'm looking forward to this special time, and I hope to share many photos in upcoming issues of The Mother's Companion.
Jenn, Mark's wife, is heading into the home stretch of her first pregnancy, planning a home birth sometime in the first week of September. She is doing well, and is excited at the prospect of holding her little one in her arms soon. Of course, expect to see lots of pictures of this new baby in future issues too!
Our new 2001 Aardsma Research and Publishing Home School Catalog is enclosed with this issue. It includes two items readers have been asking for: 1. MC Bound Volume 6 (see page 7 of the catalog), and 2. Gerald's computer math drill I mentioned we use in our home school a year or so ago (see page 8 of the catalog.) Note that we are happy to supply multiple copies of this catalog free of charge for distribution to home school groups in your area. Just let us know how many are needed and where we should send them.

I am happy to announce that Mark is now assisting with the editing and layout of The Mother's Companion. Previously this big task has fallen pretty much entirely on Gerald's shoulders. Adding Mark as a second editor frees Gerald to fulfill other responsibilities (especially more of his research) and allows us to give you a little more for your money as well.
I love To-Do lists. I feel like I've really accomplished something when I get to cross off from my list "clean fridge" "send party invitations'' or "can beets'' by the end of the day. But you may have noticed that things like "put bandaid on scratched knee and console crying toddler'', "give a word of encouragement to lonely elderly vegetable customer'', "miss badly needed sleep to counsel hurting teenager'', and "rock and nurse sick baby for three hours'' are never on our lists when we go to cross them off.
That's okay. They were on God's To-Do list for us that day, and He is pleased as He is able to cross them off.
